AllerGen’s Highly Qualified Personnel (HQP) Program
AllerGen is committed to train and mentor students and new professionals—known as Highly Qualified Personnel (HQP)—to become the next generation of leaders in the field of asthma and allergy. Since 2005, AllerGen has provided education, training and capacity-building opportunities to over 1,400 HQP, and invested over $9.3 million in HQP programming, including $6.1 million in research support and $3.2 million in awards, grants and fellowships.
“AllerGen provides trainees with 360-degree training for the modern world of science—fundamental bench and clinical scientific tools, communication and negotiating skills, and rich layers of networking come together in a complete package.”
Christopher Carlsten, MD, MPH
By assimilating trainees, early-career researchers and research staff into multidisciplinary and multisectoral research and clinical training environments at over 20 sites across Canada, AllerGen provides mentorship and capacity-building opportunities that go beyond those typically available in traditional academic and laboratory settings. AllerGen’s HQP program promotes knowledge acquisition, national and international networking and the development of professional skill sets that enhance employment opportunities for graduates. AllerGen trainees graduate from the Network with unique experiences and are mature, connected and confident of their ability to strengthen Canada’s knowledge base, innovative capacity and workforce productivity.HQP Training Program Overview – Benefits of ASNPN membership Supporting Women in Science
